My images document life – its movement, flow, and the range of human emotion. I explore themes of childhood, personal rituals, rites of passage and archetypes woven through commissioned portraits & personal art. My intent is to create images filled with light and radiant textures; ones that offer an element of depth and introspection while expressing the experience of a moment & infused with quiet reflection. As an artist who works in private portrait commissions of children & families, my personal work includes portrait studies focused on the rituals of day to day living & documentaries of people I observe from afar, while my personal concepts often feature a subject enveloped in nature or captured in a way that feels ethereal and dreamlike. Sometimes these include personal icons of trees, rocks, clouds, water, doorways, windows, shadows, reflections, fences, gates, & key elements of my childhood; other times the icons are standalone subjects. I ultimately seek a story and a glimpse of what lies within. I’m genuinely interested in how people transform, how life events often transform us and how our childhood freedoms slowly deteriorate over time.
